Geographic Overview
16 public authorities benefited from the European Commission Technical Assistance Facility in countries such as Spain, Portugal, France, Denmark, UK, Ireland, the Netherlands and Belgium as illustrated in the graph below. Through these technical assistance projects, eeef managed to initiate significant investment programmes in each of the Member States, up to a total volume of approx. €450m, helping to reach the ambitious targets of the EU regarding climate protection.
For example, the Spanish cities of Santander, La Palma, Marbella, Cordoba, Elche and Terrassa are using the technical assistance funds to develop projects in public lighting / building retrofit / clean urban transport and photovoltaic sectors, representing attractive investment opportunities for the eeef going forward. Further projects in sectors such as decentralised district heating, biomass, big ticket building retrofit and smart energy networks were also successfully supported by the European Commission Technical Assistance Facility.
The European Commission Technical Assistance Facility was available until 31 March 2014.
